Marketing texts and emails need consent, your name and an unsubscribe

The rule

Before you send a marketing message by text or email, you need the person's consent. Every message must say who it's from, and must make it easy to unsubscribe. This still applies if someone else sends the messages for you.

What it means for your clinic

  • Win-back texts, new-practitioner announcements and offers are marketing messages. Only send them to clients who agreed to marketing.
  • Put your clinic's name in every message.
  • Every marketing message needs a working opt-out, and you must honour it.
  • If a tool or an agency sends for you, you're still responsible for consent.
